María Dolores Pradera, born María Dolores Fernández on August 29, 1924 in Spain, began her career as an actress before transitioning into music. In the 1950s, she started singing professionally and released her first EP, Vintage México Nº 129 - Eps Collectors, "rancheras" on October 4, 1959. Pradera specialized in traditional Spanish and Latin American music genres such as bolero, copla, ballad, and folk music, with her contralto voice accompanied by guitars, requintos, and drums.
Throughout her career, she released over 35 albums including "Y Ya....." (1967), Cariño Malo (1969), Canciones españolas (1974) and Reverdecer (1986). She is notably known for singing with Los Gemelos, a duo formed by twin brothers Santiago and Julián López Hernández. Her contributions to music earned her the Gold Medal of Merit in Labour on April 27, 2001, and the Dame Grand Cross of the Civil Order of Alfonso X, the Wise on October 7, 2016. Pradera continued her musical journey until her passing on May 28, 2018, leaving behind a rich legacy in Spanish and Latin American music.
