Biografia

Soyeon is a K-pop singer, songwriter, rapper, and producer who has earned a number of Top 10 hits in the Asian-speaking world, both as a member of the girl group (G)I-dle and as a versatile solo artist. She was born as Jeon So-yeon on August 26, 1998, in Seoul, South Korea, and began studying dance as a child. Her interests grew to include rapping and singing, and she appeared on programs like Produce 101 and Unpretty Rapstar in 2016 before launching her solo career with 2017's "Jelly." Soyeon joined (G)I-dle in 2018, serving not only as the group's leader, but also as its main rapper and frequent songwriter. (G)I-dle's success was immediate, and the group scored Top 10 hits on the Billboard World charts later that year with "Latata" and "Hann (Alone)." Meanwhile, Soyeon also found success outside of the group, teaming up with Red Velvet's Seulgi for the 2018 single "Wow Thing" (a Number 3 hit on the Billboard World Digital Songs chart) and contributing lead vocals to K/DA's chart-topping debut release, "Pop/Stars." She also became a star behind the scenes, writing CLC's Top 5 hit single "No" in 2019 and co-producing Namjoo's debut single, "Bird," in 2020. One year later, she released Windy, her first EP as a solo artist. Co-produced and co-written by Soyeon, Windy charted at Number 7 in South Korea.
