3rd Storee was formed in 1997 in South Central Los Angeles by Kevontay Jackson, Kenneth Pratt (formerly Lil’ Man), Dante Clark (D’Smoove), and Barry Reed Jr. (Jay‑R). The quartet signed with Edmonds Entertainment and quickly secured opening slots for Britney Spears and NSYNC, establishing a touring presence before releasing their debut single "If Ever" in 1999, which peaked at Number 7 on the UK Singles Chart and Number 11 on the Billboard R&B chart. The follow‑up "Party Tonight" featured Treach and RL and further solidified the group’s pop‑R&B appeal. In 2001 the lineup expanded with Jason Tyrel Thomas (J’Son) and Gavyn Rhone, and the group signed to Def Soul Records, releasing the album Get With Me in 2002; the title track reached Number 71 on the Billboard Hip‑Hop/R&B Single Sales Chart and was featured in the Rush Hour 2 soundtrack. After a brief hiatus and a brief name change to S5, the group released the promotional single "Ooh That Ass" under J. Records in 2004. Subsequent reconfigurations produced the EP Chapter 4 and independent singles such as "Leave Ur Man" (2018) and "Get Back To Love Again" (2019). Throughout their career, 3rd Storee’s chart placements and collaborations with artists like Joe Budden and Clipse marked their contribution to late‑1990s and early‑2000s West Coast R&B.
