Ane Brun – born Ane Brunvoll on March 10, 1976 in Molde, Norway – is a highly-acclaimed art pop/folk singer and songwriter. Born into a musical family – her mother Inga was a jazz singer and pianist – Brun recorded her first demos in Bergen, Norway while attending school. Her first proper debut album, Spending Time with Morgan, was released in 2002. The released managed to break into the Top 20 on the Norwegian albums chart. After touring to support her debut, she released A Temporary Dive (2005), which climbed to Number 1 and was well-received internationally. The album earned Brun a Spellemannprisen (Norway’s equivalent of a Grammy Award) for Best Female Artist. Her third album, Duets, was released later in 2005 and hit Number 2. The Duets album featured collaborations with  Ron Sexsmith, Madrugada, Syd Matters, Tobias Fröberg, Ellekari Larsson (The Tiny), and others. “Lift Me”, Brun’s duet with Madrugada, earned her yet another Spellemannprisen award. In 2008, she released another pair of albums: Changing of the Seasons (which reached Number 1) and Sketches. After a short break, Brun released the Number 1 album It All Starts with One (in 2011), which also reached the top of the charts in Sweden. In 2013, she released the two CD collection Songs: 2003-2013, which featured four new tracks. She followed that release with the Rarities collection. Her albums When I’m Free (2015) and Leave Me Breathless (2017) reached Norway’s Top 5. In 2020, Brun released the albums After the Great Storm and How Beauty Holds the Hand of Sorrow.
