Before country music singer Drew Green – born in McMinnville, Tennessee – issued his first solo release, he was already signed to Sony Music Nashville as a songwriter and had successfully written songs for artists such as Florida Georgia Line. Influenced by country music and hip-hop as he grew up on his father’s tree farm, he took his first steps as an artist by performing local live shows while attending college. Spotted by the owner of the Nashville-based club Tootsie’s Orchid Lounge, he was invited to perform there, turning that gig into a long-term weekend residency. Although he had graduated with a degree in finance and had landed a banking job, he decided to pursue a career in songwriting and relocated to Nashville. He began several songwriting collaborations including a fruitful one with Hardy (Michael Wilson Hardy). In 2018, Drew Green and Hardy collaborated with fellow songwriter Hunter Phelps on the song “Colorado,” which was recorded by country music hitmakers Florida Georgia Line. That same year, he stepped out from behind the scenes and released his first single as an artist, “Just Talkin’.” After drawing attention as a singer, Drew Green signed with Sony Music Nashville in 2020 as a recording artist, releasing the single “Little More Be Alright.” In September of that year, he released his debut EP, Dirt Boy Vol. 1, which featured his previous single as well as “Right Where I Be.” In 2021, he released Dirt Boy Vol. 2, his second EP, containing the singles “Cold Beer and Copenhagen” and “Hooch.”. Drew Green began 2022 by releasing the single “Good Ol’ Man.”
