Canadian singer-songwriter Billy Raffoul was born on June 7, 1994, in Leamington, Ontario. He first entered the music business through his father, musician Jody Raffoul, who invited him to a session while recording a demo for Kid Rock in 2013. After hearing his voice, the producers invited him to add vocals to the track, igniting a spark that would finally materialize a few years later through a feature on Avicii's 2017 single "You Be Love." The collaboration with the Swedish producer helped him land a deal with Interscope Records, which released his debut EP 1975 in 2018. Billy Raffoul issued two more extended plays—Running Wild (2019) and the acoustic A Few More Hours at YYZ (2020)—before releasing his studio debut International Hotel in 2020. In 2021, he teamed up with fellow songster JJ Wilde on the arena rock-tinged EP Born to Die and won the SOCAN Songwriting Prize for his single "Western Skies." The following year, he continued to showcase his versatility as a songwriter on singles such as "Better," "Jim Carrey," and the rambunctious "We Could Get High," which reached Number 49 on the Canadian Rock Top 50.
