With over 26 million album sales to his name, 21 Grammy Awards and a host of hit singles to his credit, Vince Gill is rightly considered to be one of the most successful country artists of all time. Throughout his career he has been showered with awards and nominations from the country music industry and he has played with artists such as Boz Skaggs, The Eagles and earlier in his career even turned down an offer to join Dire Straits. His career began to take off when he played with the country rock band Pure Prairie League with whom Gill sang and played banjo, dobro, guitar and mandolin; he also wrote five songs on the band's 1979 hit album 'Can't Hold Back'. After leaving the band in 1981 Gill joined the The Cherry Bombs, the backing band for Rodney Crowell. His considerable talents soon helped him launch his solo career and his popularity has continued to grow making him one of the best known musicians in America. Since 1984 he has recorded 20 studio albums and has become one of America's most popular and influential country artists.
