Milan Stanković (born on September 9, 1987) is a Serbian singer-songwriter, who rose to fame in 2007 for his involvement in reality television music show Zvezde Granda. An Obrenovac native, Stanković went through several hardships during his infancy and teenage years, losing his father at the age of four and suffering bullying from his high school mates. Despite all these issues, he managed to graduate from medical school, after which he decided to pursue a career in music. Stanković made the cut for Zvezde Granda’s third season in 2007, quickly becoming a fan favorite and making it to the show’s grand finale, where he earned well-deserved fourth place. Two years later, Stanković released Solo (2009), his studio debut, to great critical and commercial acclaim in his home country, where it sold more than 500,000 copies. Hot on the heels of the album’s success, he was selected to represent Serbia at the 2010 Eurovision Song Contest in Oslo with the song “Ovo je Balkan.” The track helped Stanković land a spot in the finals, where he finished in 13th place. Due to creative differences with his producer, he disappeared from the public eye for two years but returned in full force with Milan (2015), which spawned the hits “Mama,” “Perje,” and “Gadure.” His star continued to rise in 2017, with the release of the single “Ego,” featuring Bosnian MCs Jala Brat and Buba Corelli, whose accompanying video accumulated more than seventy millions views on the Stanković’s YouTube channel. Even more success followed with a trio of singles dubbed ‘The Tokyo Trilogy’: “Trans” and “Kripton” in 2018, and “Brane mi te” in 2019. The singer teamed up once again with Jala Brat and Buba Corelli in 2020 for “Pablo,” an infectious reggaeton-inspired number that broke all language barriers and managed to chart in countries like Austria and Switzerland.
