Richard Elliot rose to prominence as a saxophone player whilst playing tenor in the horn section of acclaimed jazz funk exponents Tower of Power. Elliot, who originated from Scotland but grew up in Los Angeles joined Tower of Power in 1980 and stayed with them until turning solo in 1986, signing to Blue Note Records and releasing his debut album 'Trolltown'. Since then he has released more than 20 albums as a solo performer whilst continuing to make appearances as a sideman playing sax for artists such as Smokey Robinson. In 2013 he released the much acclaimed collaborative album 'Summer Horns' with fellow sax players Dave Koz, Gerald Albright and Mindi Abair. The album received a Grammy nomination for best Pop Instrumental Album. Elliot's style pays homage to the late Grover Washington, one of the greatest R&B saxophonists of all time but incorporates up to date influences. His 2016 album 'Summer Madness' showcases Elliot's slick style complimented by trumpeter Rick Braun and baritone sax player Curt Waylee.
