Biografie

Creating intricate and eclectic walls of sound, Everything Everything were part of a new generation of bands emerging around 2008 equally inspired by 1980s and 1990s R&B-led popstars and the classic rock of The Beatles and Pink Floyd. Jonathan Higgs and Jeremy Pritchard met while studying at Salford University, and after the former recruited old school friends Michael Spearman and Alex Niven, the group began performing in 2007 and working with producer David Kosten. Namechecked on the BBC Sound of 2010 long list, the band's debut album Man Alive (2010) made the UK top 20 and was praised for its mix of polyrhythms, electronics, and indie-rock guitars, while Jonathan Higgs's high falsetto vocals gave the band a unique, signature sound, influenced by slick US R&B. They were nominated for the Mercury Music Prize, before their acclaimed 2012 follow-up, Arc, shot to number five in the UK Charts and produced the singles "Cough Cough" and "Kemosabe" that helped to cement their reputation as one of the UK's most innovative young bands.

Their third album, Get to Heaven, was released in 2015, preceded by the single "Distant Past," which was named by Radio 1's Zane Lowe as the Hottest Record in the World. They released their fourth album, A Fever Dream, in 2017, which was nominated for the Mercury Prize the following year. 2020 saw the arrival of the band's fifth album, Re-Animator, which was released on Everything Everything's own imprint, Infinity Industries, and went to number five on the UK Albums chart. The group dropped their sixth album, Raw Data Feel, in 2022, which gave them their highest-ranking UK album to date, reaching number four on the chart.
