Biografie

Mexican pop-rock singer-songwriter Patricia Giovanna Cantú Velasco, known by her stage name Paty Cantú, first gained notoriety as a member of pop duo Lu alongside Mario Sandoval. Born on November 25, 1983 in Guadalajara, Mexico, Cantú turned her focus to music in the early 2000s after dropping out of law school. She released a debut eponymous album with Lu via Warner Music Mexico in 2004 and a follow-up, Álbum, in 2006. The group split up in 2007 and Cantú made the crossover to solo songwriting that same year, launching her debut hit single, "Déjame Ir," in November 2008. She unveiled her first album, Me Quedo Sola, the following year, which peaked at Number 3 on Mexico's album chart. In 2009, Cantú scooped the Best New Artist — North award at the Premios MTV 2009, awarded annually by MTV Latin America. Cantú's Top 10 album Afortunadamente No Eres Tú followed in 2010, with its title track making a splash throughout Mexico and the US Hispanic community. In 2012, Cantú released her third album Corazón Bipolar. The gold-selling compilation #333 came in 2018.
