Biografie

Identical twins Charlie and Craig Reid were unlikely pop stars who became cult heroes and iconic champions of Scottish pop with anthemic hits 'Letter from America' and '(I'm Gonna Be) 500 Miles'. Their first national exposure came on a support tour with The Housemartins in 1986 and the bouncy vibrancy of their first two albums 'This Is the Story' and 'Sunshine On Leith' quickly established them as a compelling and highly distinctive act, though their singalong style belied their political undercurrent, particularly supporting Scottish nationalism.

They also had a big hit with their 1990 EP 'King of the Road' and with albums like 'Persevere' (2001), 'Born Innocent' (2003), 'Restless Soul' (2005), 'Life With You' (2007) and 'Notes & Rhymes' (2009), they maintained an avid following. In 2007 they re-recorded '500 Miles' with comic characters Brian Potter and Andy Pipkin, played by Peter Kay and Matt Lucas, as a Comic Relief charity single. The same year, a stage musical based on their music was created and titled 'Sunshine On Leith'; a feature film version was released in 2013 starring George MacKay and Kevin Guthrie. Other album releases include 'Like Comedy' (2012) and 'Let's Hear It for the Dogs' (2015), with their eleventh album 'Angry Cyclist', which became their eighth top 40 UK album, released in 2018.
