Biografie

Discovered by Limp Bizkit frontman Fred Durst, Staind formed in 1995 in Springfield, Massachusetts, and quickly became one of America's leading nu-metal acts during the late 1990s and early 2000s. Early albums like Tormented (1996) and Dysfunction (1999) raged with thunderous riffs and desperate angst, but it was the raw, emotional depth of Break The Cycle (2001) that brought huge commercial success, topping the charts in the US, UK, and Canada and selling over 7 million copies. Its success boosted by the radio hit "It's Been Awhile," which reached Number 5 on the Hot 100, Break The Cycle was certified five-times platinum in America. 14 Shades of Grey (2003) and Chapter V (2005) both topped the Billboard 200, giving Staind three chart-topping albums in five years. The Illusion of Progress debuted at Number 3 in 2008, and the self-titled Staind reached Number 5 three years later. Stand proved to be the band's final album for more than a decade, with frontman Aaron Lewis focusing on a successful solo career as a country artist during the interim. Lewis released three Top 10 records on the Billboard Top Country Albums Charts during the 2010s, including the Number 1 album Sinner, before returning to the recording studio with Staind during the early 2020s. The result of those recording sessions was Confessions of the Fallen, which arrived in 2023.
