Biografie

American country singer Carly Pearce was born Carly Cristyne Slusser in Taylor Mill, Kentucky on 24 April 1990. After failing to finish her high school education, she left school at 16 and moved to Tennessee for her first professional musical engagement which involved performing at Dolly Parton's themed attraction Dollywood playing bluegrass music five times a week. She continued working on the periphery of the country music business eventually relocating to Nashville to pursue her dreams of being a country artist. Her tenacity eventually landed her a deal with Sony Nashville but success still eluded her. Eventually, she was given a feature on the Josh Abbott track "Wasn't That Drunk," which gave the young singer her first taste of chart success when it peaked in the top 40 of the Country Charts. She launched her solo career in 2017 with the release of "Every Little Thing"—which won Breakthrough Video of the Year at the CMT Music Awards in 2018—and was rewarded with a number-one hit when it went on to top the Billboard Country Airplay Chart and her album of the same name also reached the top five in the US Country Chart later that year. Her self-titled second album followed three years later and cracked the US Top Country Albums chart top ten largely propelled by the duet with Lee Brice, "I Hope You're Happy Now," which won Single of the Year and Musical Event of the Year at the Country Music Association Awards 2020. In 2021, she was inducted into the Grande Ole Opry, invited by Dolly Parton, with her third album 29: Written in Stone landing hot on the heels of that triumph. Released in September 2021, the album yielded a number-one hit in "Never Wanted to Be That Girl," a duet with Ashley McBryde, which won the pair Musical Event of the Year at the Country Music Association Awards 2022 and the following year, their first Grammy (Best Country Duo/Group Performance). In 2023, Carly Pearce teamed up with fellow country star Chris Stapleton for the single "We Don't Fight Anymore."
