The French rapper known as Laylow was born Jérémy Larroux in 1993 in the city of Toulouse. After spending some time in Tunisia and Ivory Coast, he returned to France and attended a boarding school where he met his future manager. Eventually, he settled in Toulouse and began rapping after his older brother introduced him to hip hop. Inspired by artists like Ja Rule and G-Unit, he formed the duo Laylow x Sir'Klo and released the track “Roulette russe” in 2013, gaining a great deal of attention in the French underground hip hop scene and signing with the record label Barclay that same year. In 2016, Laylow made his official solo debut with the 10-track EP Mercy, followed by Digitalova (2017), .RAW (2018), and .RAW-Z (2019), which became his first charting effort by peaking at Number 175 on the French charts. Preceded by the singles “Megatron,” “Trinityville,” and “Poizon,” his debut album Trinity came out in 2020 and proved to be a critical and commercial success, bowing at Number 4 on the French Albums Chart. His first Number 1 record L'Étrange Histoire de Mr. Anderson arrived in 2021 and featured guest spots by Damso, Hamza, Nekfeu, and Slowthai. The first single from the album, “R9R-Line” featuring Damso, climbed to Number 4 in France.
