Formed in Buenos Aires, Argentina, in 1991, Babasónicos became of the most acclaimed acts of the Argentinean rock en español scene during the early 2000s, thanks to platinum-selling albums like 2001's Jessico, 2003's Infame, 2005's Anoche. The band's lineup of musicians — frontman Adrián "Dárgelos" Rodríguez, keyboardist Diego "Uma" Rodríguez, guitarist/singer Diego "Uma-T" Tuñón, drummer Diego "Panza" Castellano, guitarist Mariano "Roger" Domínguez, and bassist Gabriel "Gabo" Manelli — debuted with 1992's Pasto and earned a minor radio hit with the single "D-Generación." Trance Zomba followed in 1994, with Dopádromo appearing in 1996 and Babasónica appearing in 1997. Following the release of 1999's Miami, Babasónicos reached mainstream success with 2001's Jessico, with the songs "Los Calientes," "El Loco," and "Deléctrico" all becaming popular singles. The follow-albums Infame (2003), Anoche (2005), and Mucho (2008) were equally successful, with the former two records going platinum and the latter record producing the Number 1 singles "Pijamas" and "Microdancing." Meanwhile, the group won was named "Best Rock Artist" and the Premios MTV Latinoamérica in 2007. Gabo Manelli passed away one year later, with 2011's A Propósito marking the band's first release with the longtime bass player. Nevertheless, Babasónicos moved forward, releasing Romantisísmico in 2013, Discutible in 2018, and the radio single "La Izquierda de la Noche" in 2021.
