Allison Russell

Die in Montreal, Quebec, Kanada, geborene Folk/Americana-Sängerin und Songwriterin Allison Russell begann ihre musikalische Karriere, nachdem sie 1998 nach Vancouver umgezogen war. Zunächst war sie Mitglied der keltischen Folkband Fear of Drinking, bevor sie 2003 zusammen mit Trish Klein (The Be Good Tanyas) Po' Girl gründete. Die Gruppe veröffentlichte sieben Alben - Po' Girl (2003), Vagabond Lullabies (2004), B-Side Recordings (2006), Home to You (2007), Deer in the Night (2008), Live (2009) und Follow Your Bliss (2010) - bevor sie sich Sankofa anschloss und das Album The Uptown Strut (2011) veröffentlichte. Allison Russell gründete dann die Gruppe Birds of Chicago, die ein Trio von Studioalben - Birds of Chicago (2012), Real Midnight (2016) und Love in Wartime (2018) - sowie eine EP und eine Live-Veröffentlichung veröffentlichte.
