Koryn Hawthorne – born in Abbeville, Louisiana on December 26, 1997 – received the headstart she needed in 2017 after appearing as a 17-year-old finalist for Team Pharrell on The Voice. The co-sign paved the way for a deal with RCA Inspiration, a division of Sony Music dedicated to gospel music recordings, and Hawthorne released her debut self-titled EP in 2017. By the age of 18, the talented singer – who bridges the gap between contemporary R&B and contemporary Christian music – had been nominated for two Grammy Awards. Hawthorne’s acclaimed debut studio album, Unstoppable, was released in July 2018 and received numerous awards nods, including three Billboard Music Awards nominations in 2019. Album track and debut gold-certified single “Won't He Do It” received a nomination for Best Gospel Performance/Song at the 61st Grammy Awards in 2019, and “Speak the Name” was nominated for Best Gospel Performance/Song at the 62nd Grammy Awards. Hawthorne’s second album I AM was released in September 2020, which featured the hit lead single “Pray”.
