Kon Kan is a Canadian synth-pop project conceived and formed in 1988 by Barry Harris (producer, vocals, keyboards & guitar) in Toronto, Ontario. It was Kon Kan's debut album, Move to Move, which spawned a #15 hit in the U.S.A. & Top 5 around the world with the hit "I Beg Your Pardon," which sampled Lynn Anderson's "Rose Garden". Harris continued on writing, producing & taking over full vocal duties on 1990's Syntonic L.P. featuring "Liberty" & 1993's Vida! L.P. intitially released only in Canada w singles “Sinful Wishes” & "S.O.L.". In the mid 90's Harris moonlighted his talents to creating, writing & producing more Canadian dance outfits, Top Kat, Outta Control, Killer Bunnies. He also released his own solo singles "Funk Like Dat", "Why'd Ya Let Her", "Dive In The Pool" ,"I Got My Pride". Harris co-created Thunderpuss in 1997 - 2005 most famous for the world-wide dance mix of Whitney Houston’s “It’s Not Right, But It’s Okay”. Thunderpuss became in demand remixers for Madonna, Britney Spears, Whitney Houston, Mary J. Blige, Janet Jackson, etc. In 2014 he re-recorded & released "I Beg Your Pardon '14" by Barry Harris Presents Kon Kan. In 2020 he re-released Kon Kan's VIDA! L.P world-wide. After taking a break 2020-2022 because of COVID, Harris continued Kon Kan with new songs released 2023 & a new band line up for touring live shows as "Barry Harris' Kon Kan" for 2025 & beyond!
