Biografie

Since emerging in 2005, ShockOne – real name Karl Thomas (born November 29th, 1982 in Esperance, Western Australia) has been a thrilling force in the Australian electronic music scene. With a deft ability to toggle between genres, the Perth-based producer and DJ laid down roots in drum 'n' bass before expanding his palette to inlclude dubstepdrumstep, electro house, and more. He dropped his debut self-titled EP in 2009, which spawned drum 'n' bass heavyweight "Polygon" and the dubstep-minded "Adachigahara's Theme," and the following year repackaged selected VIPs and remixes of songs off the first EP for the Re-Fix EP. For his debut album Universus (2013), he brought his own vocals into the mix ("Crucify Me") as well as showcasing the talents of producer Metrik, his sister Reija Lee, vocalist Kyza and others. Following a stint living in London, he moved back to Perth and began working on his new EP, In This Light, which was released in May 2016. A string of remixes came next, with ShockOne adding his touch to tracks by artists including NetskyChicaneAyah MararThe Aston Shuffle, and Brookes Brothers. His second album, A Dark Machine, landed in 2019 via Warner Music Australia and Canadian label Monstercat, with the first single "Run" featuring Italian bloghouse royalty The Bloody Beetroots. 2020 saw the release of two standalone singles, "It's All Over" and "Follow Me" – which picked up the Best Independent Dance, Electronica or Club Single accolade at the Australia Independent Record Awards (AIR) – and in 2021 he teamed up with his sister again for the "Hardwired" single. Made in collaboration with Lee Mvtthews, the euphoric new bass-loaded dance single "Thinkin About" came in 2022.
