Sharon Brown is an American singer born in Harlem, New York City. She began her music career with a strong familial background; she is the niece of songwriter Phil Medley and the daughter of drummer William Brown. In 1976, she co-wrote and sang backup vocals on "Love Looks Good On You" for CBS Rock Band Blood Sweat & Tears' Mirror's Image LP. She also worked with acts such as Ronnie Dyson from the Broadway hit play Hair, singing "Aquarius". She founded her own music publishing company, Tshaym Music Publishing Company BMI. Brown achieved significant success in 1982 when she released the single "I Specialize In Love", which reached Number 2 on the Billboard Hot Dance Club Play chart and crossed over to R&B Dance Music Charts. This song was later covered by Exposé in the 1990s. Brown's other notable songs from the early to mid-1980s include "Love Don't Hurt People" and "I'll Make You Feel Like The First Time". Brown's song "Family Tree", co-written with keyboardist Ronnie Bishop and recorded in Los Angeles in 1976, became an underground hit years later.
