Lutricia McNeal (born on November 27, 1973) is an American pop and soul singer whose club bangers took Europe by storm in the late 90s. Hailing from Oklahoma City, McNeal got her start in music by singing in her local church choir. During a visit to Europe, she met Swedish dance producers Rob’n’Raz, who invited her to collaborate on their 1993 single, “In Command.” The song went straight to Number 1 on the Swedish charts and helped pave the way for My Side of Town (1997), McNeal’s official studio debut. The album spawned the mega hit “Ain’t That Just the Way,” a Barbi Benton cover that topped the charts in Sweden and made it to the Top 5 in countries like Germany, Austria, Switzerland, and New Zealand. More hits followed with “Someone Loves You Honey,” and “Stranded,” which obtained silver certification in the UK after reaching an impressive Number 3 on the UK Singles Chart. McNeal followed up with Whatcha Been Doing (1999), Metroplex (2002), Soulsister Ambassador (2004), and Rise (2005) which, despite a decent performance on European charts, failed to achieve the success of the singer’s heyday.
