Meiko Nakahara, born Meiko Obara on 8 May 1959 in Chiba Prefecture, Japan, is a singer known for her contributions to pop music. She debuted in 1982 with the single "Kon'ya dake Dance Dance Dance" and the album Coconuts House (ココナッツ・ハウス). Her breakthrough came with the release of her 1984 single "Kimitachi Kiwi Papaya Mango dane", which became one of the best-selling singles of the year in Japan that year. Her song "Ru-Ru-Ru-Russian Roulette" served as the opening theme for the 1985 anime series Dirty Pair, winning the award for Best Song at the Eighth Anime Grand Prix in 1986. Her work also included notable themes for other anime series, such as Kagami no Naka no Actress and "Dance in the Memories" for Kimagure Orange Road. Her live tour in 1992 marked her last public performance, effectively ending her singing career around that time. Despite retiring from performing in 1992, she continued to work as a composer for various artists and groups. A tribute band named Lotos was formed in 2010, highlighting the enduring impact of her music.
