Biography

Shubhdeep Singh Sidhu – born on June 11, 1993, in Moosa, Punjab, India – was a rapper, singer, and actor better known by his stage name Sidhu Moose Wala. After graduating in electrical engineering in India, he relocated to Canada in 2016 and spent the first year making connections and writing songs, including supplying lyrics to songs by rap artists Ninja and Deep Jandu. In 2017, he released his debut single, “G Wagon”, and began to perform live shows in Canada, as well as performing in his homeland of India. Sidhu Moose Wala mixed various influences into his music, the most controversial being his affinity to gangster rap, which added a new dangerous element to his live shows. Promoters banned him from appearing at certain high-profile rap festivals due to violence breaking out at some of his gigs, particularly in Canada. He also acted in several films during this period of his career, but his primary focus was music. Between 2017 and 2022, he released and astonishing 60-plus singles, three albums – PBX 1 (2018), Snitches Get Stitches (2020), and Moosetape (2021) – and several EPs while also collaborating and producing other artists. He collaborated regularly with singer Sunny Malton on songs such as "Outlaw", "Chosen", "Sidhu's Anthem" and "B-Town". Sidhu Moose Wala then collaborated with The PropheC ("Sohne Lagde") and Bohemia ("Same Beef"). In 2019, he collaborated with British rappers Steel Banglez, Mist, and Stefflon Don for the collective title "47", which hit Number 17 on the UK chart.  in the United Kingdom. In April 2022, he released the EP No Name (2022), which featured guest appearances from Malton, AR Paisley, and Mr. Capone-E. Sidhu Moose Wala’s brushes with violence at his shows bled into his real life and finally caught up with him on May 29, 2022, when he was gunned down in his car. He was 28 years old.
