Menton J. Matthews III, known professionally as Saltillo, was born on January 3, 1976, in Mississippi, USA and works primarily as a DJ focusing on electronic music. He began his music career as part of the band Sunday Munich alongside Sarah Matthews. Saltillo's debut album Ganglion was released under Suspicious Records in 2006 and later re-released by Artoffact Records in 2011; His subsequent albums, Monocyte, and its companion piece "Monocyte: The Lapis Coil" were both released through Artoffact Records in 2012. This album is notable for being a concept album that doubles as the soundtrack to Menton J. Matthews III's comic book of the same name, published by IDW Publishing. He returned in 2017 with the EP Ascension.
