Biography

Rapper Michael Williams – born September 23, 1998, in Brooklyn, New York – is better known by his stage name Sheff G. Coming from the Flatbush section of Brooklyn, he is known for his single “No Suburban” and for being a pioneer of the Brooklyn drill sound, which has been compared to the trap music genre. Before entering the rap game, he grew up listening to popular rappers like Notorious B.I.G and 50 Cent before delving into Chicago drill artists such as Chief Keef and Lil Bibby. In 2015, he was charged with a felony gun charge and spent a year and four months behind bars and then spent another four months in prison from October 2017 to January 2018 After being released from prison for the second time, he began his music career with the release of his single “No Suburban,” a response to 22Gz’s “Suburban.” Sheff G released his debut mixtape, The Unluccy Luccy Kid, in 2019, which was followed by his debut album, One and Only, a year later. His label, Winners Circle Entertainment, signed a deal with RCA Records and his next 2020 single, “Tip Toe” with Sleepy Hallow, was his biggest success since “No Suburban.” At the end of 2020, Sheff G released his second mixtape, Proud of Me Now. In July 2021, he was arrested for second-degree gun possession and sentenced to two years in prison, which he began serving in October of that year. In July 2022, while still incarcerated, Sheff G released his second solo album, From the Can, which featured guest appearances from Fivio Foreign, Polo G, and others.
