David Grant found fame in the early 1980s as one of Britain's first black music heroes, singing lead in the soul/funk band Linx, which soon evolved into a duo starring Grant and Peter Martin. This was the line-up that produced their biggest hit Intuition, a Top 10 hit in 1981, followed by other hits such as So You're Lying and So This Is Romance and the albums Intuition and Go Ahead. When Linx split in 1983, Grant launched his solo career with the hit singles Stop & Go and Watching You, Watching Me, before duetting with Jaki Graham on the Top 5 hit Could It Be I'm Falling In Love (1985). He also worked as a session singer with various other stars, including Diana Ross, Rick Astley and the Lighthouse Family before he and second wife Carrie Grant found high profile outlets as vocal coaches on TV shows Pop Idol and Fame Academy. He has also helped coach many top UK pop acts, including Take That, S Club, Atomic Kitten, Will Young, Charlotte Church, Lemar and Joss Stone and this spawned a parallel career as a TV celebrity on shows like The One and Only and he and Carrie hosted their own show, Carrie & David's Popshop.
