Biography

German DJ André Tanneberger (February 26, 1973), better known as ATB, is one of the most celebrated trance acts in the electronic music world. Born in Freiberg, he cut his teeth in the club scene as part of the Euro-house group Sequential One throughout the early 90s. His official debut under the ATB moniker arrived in 1998 with the single “9 PM (Till I Come).” Featuring a synthesized slide guitar riff that would become an essential part of ATB’s trademark sound, the track climbed to the top of the charts in the UK and reached the Top 10 in several European countries. Follow-up singles “Killer 2000” and “Don’t Stop!” also broke into the UK Top 10 and were included in ATB’s studio debut Movin’ Melodies, released in 1999. During the aughts, ATB continued to deliver hard-hitting, dancefloor-ready trance-pop anthems through the albums Two Worlds (2000), Dedicated (2002), Addicted to Music (2003), and No Silence (2004). In 2007, he flirted with ambient on the double album Trilogy and indulged his love for drum’n’bass on 2009’s Future Memories. Subsequently, ATB dropped Distant Earth (2011) and Contact (2014), both of which landed on the Top 5 in Germany, and returned in 2017 with Next, his tenth full-length. A few years later, he re-emerged with the single “Your Love (9PM)” (2021), a remake of “9 PM (Till I Come)” that peaked at Number 8 on the German Singles Chart and featured Topic and A7S.
