The Brixton Moord & Roof Orkes (tr: Brixton Murder and Robbery Band) was an underground Afrikaans rock band from Johannesburg, South Africa. During their existence, they released three albums, namely “Spergebied” (2002), “Terug in Skubbe” (2004) and “Slaaptyd in die Suburbs” (2014). The band’s membership changed over time, but Roof Bezuidenhout (music and lyrics), Brixton Barnard (music and lyrics), Moord Greeff (lyrics) and Kapenlaan Pat Plank (music) composed most songs. Two of the band’s members have since died, Brixton Barnard from brain cancer (2015) and Louis Graham (drummer) from Covid (2021). Surviving members now participate in other music projects, as either solo artists or members of new collectives. Their music veered from rocking party songs to dark and melodic explorations of belonging and alienation in the South African context. Journalist Dirk Jordaan described them as the "conscience of Afrikaans rock". The band did their last reunion gig at the end of 2019.
