Hear'Say, a British pop group formed in 2001 through the ITV reality TV show Popstars, consisted of Danny Foster, Myleene Klass, Kym Marsh, Suzanne Shaw, and Noel Sullivan. The group's debut single "Pure and Simple" was released on March 5th, 2001, becoming an instant success by topping the UK Singles Chart with sales of nearly 550,000 copies in its first week. This achievement marked the fastest-selling debut single at that time. Hear'Say's debut album Popstars also reached Number 1 on the UK Albums Chart, making them the first act in UK chart history to simultaneously top both charts with their debut releases. The album featured cover versions of "Monday Monday" by the Mamas & the Papas and "Bridge over Troubled Water" by Simon & Garfunkel, alongside original tracks. Their second single "The Way to Your Love" also reached Number 1. In November 2001, Hear'Say released their second studio album Everybody, which debuted at number 4 on the UK Singles Chart and number 24 on the UK Albums Chart. However, it did not match the success of their debut album. In January 2002, Kym Marsh left the group due to internal conflicts, and Johnny Shentall joined as her replacement. Despite these changes, Hear'Say's subsequent single "Lovin' Is Easy" landed at number 6, failing to make a significant commercial impact. The group announced their split in October 2002, citing "abuse from the public" as the main reason for their demise.
