Joe Fagin, born Joseph Fagin in Kirkdale, Liverpool, in December 1939, was an English singer-songwriter. He began his music career as a guitarist with The Strangers, performing at The Cavern Club in Liverpool and the Star-Club in Hamburg alongside The Beatles. In the early 1970s, he returned to England and worked in advertising, writing jingles, and as a session musician. His breakthrough came in 1982 with his single "Younger Days", which charted at number 80 on the US Billboard Hot 100. In January 1984, he achieved significant success with the single "Breakin' Away / That's Livin' Alright" from the comedy-drama Auf Wiedersehen, Pet, reaching number three on the UK Singles Chart. He also contributed to the charity supergroup The Crowd, releasing the single "You'll Never Walk Alone" in 1985 for the Bradford City stadium fire, which reached number one in the UK. His other notable works include singing a version of "As Time Goes By" for the 1990 BBC sitcom of the same name. Joe Fagin passed away on 5 September 2023.
