Javine Dionne Hylton, known mononymously as Javine, is an English singer and songwriter born on December 27, 1981, in Kensington. From a young age, she showed a passion for dance and began her stage school training at the age of ten. She played Nala in a production of The Lion King in London's West End before transitioning to music. Hylton auditioned for ITV's reality television talent show Popstars: The Rivals, where she was one of the last six contenders but did not make it into the girl group Girls Aloud. She embarked on a solo career, releasing her debut single "Real Things" in 2003, which charted at number 4 in the UK Singles Chart. Hylton's subsequent singles included "Surrender (Your Love)", "Best of My Love", and a double A-side with "Don't Walk Away" and "You've Got a Friend". Her debut album Surrender was released in 2004. In March 2005, Hylton won the UK heat of the Eurovision Song Contest, representing the country with "Touch My Fire", which reached number 18 in the UK Singles Chart. Despite her chart success, she was dropped by her record label later that year. Hylton collaborated with various artists and appeared on television shows such as The Games and Celebrity Masterchef. In October 2013, she released "Never" with DJs WAWA and M.A.R.K, which received widespread acclaim.
