Playlists & music by Tapir!
Tapir! is a British folk band formed in London in 2019. Led by singer and guitarist Ike Gray, it also includes Tom Rodgers-Coltman (guitar, saxophone), Will McCrossan (keyboards), Ronnie Longfellow (bass), Emily Hubbard (synthesizers) and Wilf Cartwright (drums). The musicians, who came from a variety of backgrounds, came together during the Covid-19 pandemic to develop an eccentric style based on folk, jazz and electronica. A debut track, "My God", set the tone in 2022, followed by "On a Grassy Knoll (We'll Bow Together)" and two EPs, Act 1 (The Pilgrim) in the same year and Act 2 (Their God) in 2023, featuring a nonchalant take on Erik Satie's "Gymnopédie". Already appearing at several festivals, Tapir! unveiled their debut album The Pilgrim, Their God and the King of My Decrepit Mountain in 2024, featuring four new compositions and contributions from Kyle Field aka Little Wings. Released on the Heavenly Recordings label, the opus reaches number 29 in the UK independent charts. It is followed by a remix EP and two new singles, "Hallelujah Bruv" and "Nail in a Wooden Trunk".
