Wilburn Theodore Cole, known as Stranger Cole, was born on June 26, 1942, in Kingston, Jamaica. He started his music career as a songwriter, achieving early success with "In and Out the Window" for Eric "Monty" Morris. His recording debut came in 1962 with singles such as "Rough and Tough" and "When You Call My Name", a duet with Patsy Todd. Cole worked with notable producers like Arthur "Duke" Reid, Clement "Coxsone" Dodd, and Prince Buster. He emigrated to England in 1971 and later moved to Canada, settling in Toronto. His first album, "Forward" in the Land of Sunshine, was released in 1976. Throughout his career, Cole released several albums, including The First Ten Years (1978), Morning Train (2006), and Banana Dramatic (2008) with King Banana. He is credited with recording the first reggae song with "Bangarang" in 1968.
