Born on August 15, 1948, in Campbellton, New Brunswick, Canada, Patsy Gallant CM is a pop singer and actress who sings in English and French. While she has been performing since the mid-1960s, she is best known for her work in the disco genre. She began her career at the age of five as a member of family group The Gallant Sisters. She left for a solo career in 1967, releasing “La Musique Et La Danse”, her debut single, that same year. Patsy Gallant became somewhat of a celebrity, appearing on many TV variety shows during the late 1960s and early 1970s. She released her self-titled debut solo album in 1972, followed by the English-language version of the album, Upon My Own (1972), Power (1973), and Toi L’enfant (1974), which featured her early stabs at disco music. Her 1976 album Are You Ready for Love Together was a huge dive into disco. Huge hits in Canada, "From New York to L.A." and "Sugar Daddy" did not chart in the US although they were dancefloor fillers in American clubs and discos. Further albums include Will You Give Me Your Love (1977), Patsy! (1978), Patsy Gallant et Star (1978), Stranger in the Mirror (1980), and Take Another Look (1984). Her Canadian hit singles include “From New York to L.A.” (1976), “Are You Ready for Love” (1977), and “Sugar Daddy” (1977). After disco’s decline, Patsy Gallant took a short break before taking a detour in her career and began performing in musical theater productions. Over the years, she performed in well-received productions of Cats, Nunsense, and Starmania. She had relocated to Paris, France during this period of her career but moved back to Canada in 2005 and rejuvenated her musical career.
