Basic Channel

Basic Channel, a German music duo consisting of Moritz von Oswald and Mark Ernestus, began their musical journey in 1993. Both musicians had previous experience: von Oswald was a drummer for the Neue Deutsche Welle band Palais Schaumburg, while Ernestus founded Kumpelnest 3000 and Hard Wax. Their collaboration started with the release of EPs such as Lyot Rmx, Phylyps Trak, and Q 1.1. Basic Channel quickly established itself in the techno scene, known for its minimalistic sound and distinctive delay effects. The duo's single/EP "Quadrant Dub", was released in April 1994. Their subsequent albums, including BCD (February 1995) and BCD-2 (May 2008), further solidified their influence. Basic Channel's work has been critically acclaimed, with several tracks featured in prestigious lists. The duo also founded other influential labels like Chain Reaction and Rhythm & Sound.
