Yani Pearl & Martin Martis create Folk, Indie, Pop with Celtic overtones; ‘Music for the Soul’.
Singer songwriter Yani Pearl from Castlemaine, Australia and Martin Martis Slovenian multi-instrumentalist and producer. After a long story and a lot of performing Yani Pearl & Martin Martis have started officially releasing music from the studio.
The story starts in Central America where Yani Pearl and Martin Martis met one night at a local gig. Martin was playing in the band and Yani was in the front row. During the show Martin broke a string on his guitar. He sat down in the audience next to Yani to change it over. They introduced themselves and exchanged a few words as Martin wound on a new string. Latter, after the show, they got chatting, and of coarse talked about music and travel. A few days latter they bumped into each other in the park by chance. Martin had his guitar with him, so he got it out and they played some tunes. It was clear immediately they shared a musical harmony.
The story starts here, continues ‘on the road’ for a while; across Mexico, the west coast of the States, Canada and around Europe playing music all the time and doing some small gigging. Finally the two settled in Slovenia, Martin’s home country and took to the stage in a serious way.
In the last four years since 2018 the duo have been welcomed to some of the countries most popular festivals and concert venues. The combination of two acoustic guitars, Yani’s caressing, punchy and versatile voice with Martin’s arrangements, composition back vocals and occasionally picking up the flute to blow like a classical Jethro Tull all harmonise together to cook up the futuristic, old-school, grand yet simple sincere and touching timber of this band.
In December 2020 Y&M released their first official radio single ‘Take it Easy’ a laid-back, feel-good song showcasing the bands live acoustic elements. Their second single ‘Non Stopping’ released in November 2021 is slightly expanding the bands sound within the studio, rich with harmonic guitars and Celtic drums the song flies with passion and reaches an epic peek. Non Stopping is also accompanied by the bands first video clip, set in a fairytale landscape of castle ruins and European forests.
There is something special about this band thats hard to define. Their music feels so familiar, yet their sound is truly striking as something new. It’s almost like underneath all there songs, there is a tonal vibration that feels like a deep inhale and exhale, bringing peace to the heart and comfort to the soul.
Sincere, gutsy, gentle, fun and moving. Australian/Slovenian, Folk/Pop duo Yani Pearl & Martin Martis have cooked up a magical combination of diverse influences and unifying expression. They are offering music that brings stories from life that speaks to us all.
The band says they plan to keep their focus on live performance whilst recording and releasing new music regularly. They want to expand their audience in Australia making another home hub for their music, and hope to tour in Australia as soon as possible.
