Robert S. Nevil, born on October 2, 1958 in the United States of America, is a pop singer, songwriter, record producer, and guitarist. Nevil began playing guitar at age 11 and initially performed with cover bands before transitioning to his original music, signing a publishing deal in 1983, writing songs for artists such as the Pointer Sisters, El DeBarge, Alison Moyet, and Earth, Wind & Fire. In 1986, Nevil obtained his first recording contract with Manhattan Records and released his debut album, which featured the hit single "C'est la Vie", reaching number 2 on the Billboard Hot 100. His subsequent singles "Dominoes" and "Wot's It to Ya" also achieved significant chart success, peaking at number 14 and number 10 respectively. Nevil's second album, A Place Like This, was released in 1988 and included the moderate hit "Back on Holiday". In 1991, his album Day 1 featured the single "Just Like You", which became his fifth and final top 40 single, peaking at Number 25. Nevil later focused on writing and producing for other acts, including Babyface, Jessica Simpson, Destiny's Child, and Seiko Matsuda. He collaborated with Matthew Gerrard on Disney projects such as The Cheetah Girls, High School Musical, and Hannah Montana, earning ASCAP Awards in 2008, 2009, and 2010 for his contributions to these works. Nevil continued to create music for Extreme Music, part of Sony/ATV Music Publishing, with many of his compositions included on the 2015 Sony compilation album Party Pop.
