Gat Decor was an English electronic music group formed by British DJs and producers Simon Slater, Laurence Nelson-Boudville, and Simon Hanson. The name 'Gat Decor' was derived from an anagram of 'Tag Records', a record store based in Soho, London. The group gained significant attention with their 1992 release "Passion", which became one of the best-known works of the early progressive house genre. The song peaked at number 29 on the UK charts and later reached number 6 in its 1996 remix version. The group's debut single "Passion" was released on June 12, 1992. The track's distinctive sound resonated with audiences and became a staple in clubs and on radio stations. Gat Decor followed up this success with additional remixes for various artists including Euphoria, The Odd Company, D'lusion, Latitude, JFK, Country & Western, Jean-Michel Jarre, and The Good Strawberries. Gat Decor's impact extended beyond their own releases; they were instrumental in shaping the sound of progressive house during its formative years. Their work influenced a generation of producers and DJs, contributing to the evolution of electronic dance music. Despite their relatively short career, Gat Decor left a lasting legacy with "Passion" continuing to be licensed by Simon Slater, ensuring its enduring presence in the electronic music landscape.
