Looking like a cross between Courtney Love and extras from a Motley Crue video, Lindsey Troy (vocals, guitar) and Julie Edwards (drums) strut and thrash to great slabs of sleazy rock'n'roll. The pair met at a crocheting class in Los Angeles and, uniting over a love of Led Zeppelin, Black Sabbath and Iggy Pop, devised a sound and image which oozes with sex, power and righteous, unashamed, blues-rock. Spotted by legendary Nirvana booking agent Russell Warby, who quickly secured them with support slots with Queens of the Stone Age, Muse and Mumford and Sons, Deap Vally were soon the talk of Europe's festival circuit, thanks to the raw swagger of tracks like Gonna Make My Own Money and Walk Of Shame. Produced by former Mars Volta contributor Lars Stalfors, debut album Sistrionix (2013) went on to make the UK Top 40 and was given an 8/10 review by the NME, just two years after they had originally formed in the San Fernando Valley.
