His first proper breakthrough came in 2007 when he stepped up to sing "Ek Din Teri Raahon Mein" for the Indian Hindi-language suspense thriller film Naqaab, which paved the way for his next career high, a gig singing "Jashn-e-Bahaaran" for the Indian epic historical drama Jodhaa Akbar in 2008. The following year, he picked up The Best Male Playback Singer prize at the IIFA Awards. His career went from strength to strength after that, with Javed Ali providing vocals for a diverse range of film soundtracks across Bollywood, Kollywood and Tollywood, including 2009's Delhi-6 ("Arziyan"), 2011's Rockstar ("Kun Faya Kun"), 2012's Raaz 3 ("Deewana Kar Raha Hai"), 2019's Dabangg 3 ("Naina Lade") and 2021's Pushpa: The Rise (D) ("Srivalli").
