Biography

David Nail is a singer-songwriter from Kennett, Missouri. Injury ended his promising baseball career, but inspired by Travis Tritt's song 'Anymore' as a teenager, he opted for a musical career. As a young man Nail moved to Nashville to try to break into the country music scene and gained a deal after being spotted singing at a party. His first single was 'Memphis' in 2002, although his label Mercury opted not to release his album.

After taking time out coaching baseball he gained a supporter in producer Frank Liddell and signed a deal with MCA for release of the single 'I'm About to Come Alive' in 2008. The following year came his breakthrough single 'Red Light', which went gold. His debut album was also titled 'I'm About to Come Alive' in 2009 and in 2011 he released the number one country single 'Let It Rain' followed by the album 'The Sound of a Million Dreams'.

Nail's 2012 EP '1979' contained a cover of Adele's 'Someone Like You'. In 2013 he had another hit with the single 'Whatever She's Got', taken from the 2014 album 'I'm a Fire'. His 2016 EP 'Uncovered' featured covers of sings by Adele, Elvis Presley, Phil Collins and The Weeknd.

His 2016 album 'Fighter' saw him writing directly about his most personal issues such as depression and his relationship with his father. Accompanied by a new band, Well Ravens, he released the adventurous album 'Only This and Nothing More' in 2018, seeing Nail's sound expand into drum loops and rock guitar.
