Born in 1968 in New York City, Elizabeth Mitchell is an American folk singer who rose to fame in the late 1980s as part of the duo Liz and Lisa, alongside Lisa Loeb. The two were known for their catchy, harmonized pop-folk sound, and released two albums—Liz and Lisa (1989) and Liz and Lisa – Days Were Different (1990)—before splitting up shortly after. Following the dissolution of the group, Elizabeth Mitchell teamed up with future husband Daniel Littleton to form the indie rock band Ida, with whom she released eight studio albums between 1994 and 2008. Since the late 90s, she achieved widespread success as a performer of children's music, releasing the albums You Are My Flower (1996), You Are My Sunshine (2002), and Catch the Moon (2004) with Lisa Loeb. After becoming the first children's music artist to sign with the Smithsonian Folkways label in the early aughts, she returned in 2006 with the full-length You Are My Little Bird, which was voted Best Children's Album by Amazon.com later that year. A collection of Woodie Guthrie songs titled Little Seed appeared in 2012 and was followed by other well-received releases such as Blue Clouds (2012), The Sounding Joy: Christmas Songs In and Out of the Ruth Crawford Seeger Songbook (2013), and Turn Turn Turn (2013) with Dan Zanes.
