Shades Apart is an American alternative rock band from Bridgewater Township, New Jersey, formed in 1988. The group initially self-released their debut album that same year, followed by Dude Danger (1991) and Neon (1993). Their breakthrough came with the release of Save It. in 1995, produced by Bill Stevenson and Stephen Egerton. This album garnered significant media attention due to their cover of "Tainted Love", which was later featured in the 2004 movie She's Too Young. In 1997, they released Seeing Things and subsequently signed with Universal Records. Under this label, Shades Apart issued Eyewitness in 1999 and Sonic Boom in 2001. The single "Valentine" from Eyewitness peaked at number 31 on Billboard's Mainstream Rock Tracks chart. Their song "Stranger by the Day" was featured in the film American Pie. In 2020, they released their album, Eternal Echo, through Hellminded Records.
