Biography

Eric Khaled Saade (October 29, 1990) is a Swedish singer-songwriter who first jumped into the spotlight with the boy band What’s Up in the late aughts. Born and raised in the small village of Kattarp, Eric Saade found his true calling at a very early age, inspired by the likes of Michael Jackson, Robbie Williams, and the Backstreet Boys. In 2007, he joined What’s Up after becoming a finalist on the contest Talangtävling and reached the Swedish Top 40 with the band’s first album, In Posse. After two years fronting What’s Up, Saade left the group in 2009 to pursue a solo career and also hosted Disney Channel’s My Camp Rock, a TV program based on the film of the same name. Shortly after, he was signed by Roxy Recordings and made his official debut with the single “Sleepless” (2009) and then scored his first Number 1 hit with “Manboy,” which he performed at Melodifestivalen 2010, finishing up in third place. Masquerade, his full-length debut, arrived in 2010 and climbed to Number 2 in Sweden, obtaining gold certification by the GLF. Eric Saade entered the Melodifestivalen for a second time in 2011 and won the competition with the song “Popular.” The track shot straight to the top of the Swedish charts and gave the singer the chance to represent Sweden at the 56th edition of the Eurovision Song Contest, where he reached the podium taking third place. Subsequently, Eric Saade remained at the top of his game with chart-topping albums such as Saade Vol. 1 (2011), Saade Vol. 2 (2011), and Forgive Me (2013). After a handful of EPs that failed to chart, he returned in 2017 with a collection of covers titled Så mycket bättre – Tolkningarna and then dropped Det svarta fåret (2020), his first album for Warner Music Sweden. The following year, Eric Saade finished runner-up at the Melodifestivalen 2021 with the single “Every Minute,” his first Top 5 single since 2015’s “Sting.”
