Paysage D'hiver

Paysage d'Hiver is an atmospheric black metal project from Burgdorf, Switzerland, founded in 1997 by Tobias Möckl under the stage name Wintherr. Known for its dark and immersive music, the band combines black metal with dark ambient elements and often thematizes winter, darkness and astral projections. The name Paysage d'Hiver, which means "winter landscape" in French, reflects the melancholic atmosphere of their music. Wintherr, the sole musician behind Paysage d'Hiver, is also known for his work with the band Darkspace. The project has released a series of albums and demos that originally appeared on tape and were later re-released as LPs and CDs. Important albums include Winterkälte (2001), Geister (2021) and Die Berge (2024) and , which are very popular in the black metal community. The music of Paysage d'Hiver is characterized by long, epic tracks and a minimalist production. The releases appear on the Kunsthall Produktionen label, which Wintherr co-founded. The influences of Burzum and other classic black metal bands can be clearly heard in the music. The band also has a loyal following in the scene and is known for their unique atmospheric compositions and the creation of extremely dark, wintry soundscapes.
