Lucie Bethan Jones was born on 20 March 1991 in Pentyrch, a village outside Cardiff, Wales, and later emerged as a singer, actress and model. She first attracted national attention as a contestant on The X Factor UK series 6 in 2009, where she finished eighth and was mentored by Dannii Minogue. After the show, Jones signed with Select Model Management and began a modelling career before returning to music. Her debut EP, Believe, was released on 15 October 2015, followed by the single "Confidence Is Conscienceless" (31 January 2015) and the soundtrack contribution "The Ballad of Midsomer County" (11 February 2015). In 2017 she released the single "Never Give Up on You" from the mini‑album Never Give Up on You (22 March 2017) and represented the United Kingdom at the Eurovision Song Contest in Kyiv, finishing fifteenth with 111 points.
