Biography

The Christian-minded indie-pop band He Is We formed in 2008 in Tacoma, Washington. Co-founders Rachel Taylor and Trevor Kelly met while working at a local music store, then made their debut as He Is We with the independent album A Mess it Grows in 2009. That same year, they also released Old Demos, which earned them a deal with Universal Motown Records. With Universal's help, they made their major-label debut with 2010's My Forever, an album that featured a guest appearance from Underoath singer Aaron Gillespie. My Forever peaked at number 6 on the US Heatseekers Albums chart and increased the band's popularity within the emo-pop scene. The Acoustic/Live EP was also released in 2010, showcasing He Is We's strength in concert. Rachel Taylor left the lineup in 2014 and released a solo EP, Come Alive, that same year. One year later, the launched the project "She Is We" with Adamm Mitchell and released an album titled War on Vanguard Records in early 2016. Although Taylor eventually reclaimed use of the "He Is We" name and continued touring, the group went through significant personnel changes throughout 2017. That didn't stop He Is We from releasing two EPs that year: Fall Out Of Line and He Is We Chapter One. Hold My Heart followed in 2018, with the full-length sophomore album Treehouse following in 2022. Two years later, He Is We earned an international hit with the single "I Wouldn't Mind," which appeared on the Top 200 Shazam chart in multiple countries. "I Wouldn't Mind" also reached number 2 on the TikTok Billboard Top 50 chart in the U.S.
