Biography

Born in Ardsley, New York, on April 9, 1987, Jesse McCartney had already launched an acting career on the soap opera All My Children by the time he joined the boy band Dream Street in 1999. The group's self-titled debut was released in 2001 and peaked at Number 37 on the Billboard 200. Following Dream Street's breakup in 2002, he launched a successful solo career as a pop artist, cracking the Top 20 in eleven countries with his debut single, "Beautiful Soul," in 2004. An album of the same name was also released that year, going platinum in the US and gold in Canada. He co-wrote the bulk of the material on his second album, Right Where You Want Me, which was released in 2006 and peaked at Number 15 in America. Jesse McCartney also co-wrote Leona Lewis' Grammy-nominated "Bleeding Love," which climbed to Number 1 in 35 countries and was the best-selling single of 2008. His third album, Departure, was released in 2008, featuring the platinum-certified single "Leavin'," the Ludacris collaboration "How Do You Sleep?," and the T-Pain duet "Body Language." 2010's "Shake" marked Jesse McCartney's final single to hit the Billboard charts, although he remained prolific as a voice actor and musician during the following decade. 2014's In Technicolor climbed to Number 35 in America, and McCartney followed its release with non-album singles like "Yours" and "Friends" during the decade's final years.
