The heavy metal band Impellitteri formed in 1987 in Los Angles, California. Guitarist Chris Impellitteri and vocalist Rob Rock co-founded the group and released a self-titled debut EP, Impellitteri, in 1987. Graham Bonnet took over as the band's singer in 1988, and the music video for the single "Stand in Line" became a frequent clip on MTV during the decade's final stretch. The song doubled as the title track of the band's second album, Stand In Line, which was released by Relativity Records in 1988 and spent 20 weeks on the Billboard 200, where it peaked at number 91. The album marked the final appearances of bassist Chuck Wright (who left the lineup to co-found his own project, House of Lords) and drummer Pat Torpey (who left the lineup to join Mr. Big). Rob Rock rejoined the lineup for 1992's Grin and Bear It, and Impellitteri released multiple decades throughout the decade, including 1994's Answer to the Master, 1996's Screaming Symphony, and 1997's Eye of the Hurricane. Personnel changes continued to occur during the 2000s, with Rob Rock leaving the band. After releases like 2000's Crunch and 2002's System X, Rock returned in 2008 and appeared on the band's next release, Wicked Maiden, in 2009. 2015's Venom and 2018's The Nature of the Beast followed, and the band reached number 69 on South Korea's Top 100 Albums chart with a compilation, The Complete Beast 1987-2009, in early 2024.
